We have small packages that can fit in a closet (2’x2’) and large packages that can span a majority of a basement (8’x4’). It depends on how much available space you have. Our expert technician can help identify a Grow Space that works best for your home. Call Us Now
How long will it take to grow a plant?
-
2-5 months. Grow Guys recommended grow schedule achieves seed-to-use in about 11-12 weeks.
How much cannabis will I have per plant?
-
Even beginners will yield around 40 grams, or 1.5 ounces per plant! So roughly 1.5 ounces and beyond!
Will my electric bill go up?
-
Very slightly (roughly $10 per month); however, you will still be saving a lot of money compared to buying from a dispensary. Click to see how much you can save!
How DO I GET SEEDS?
-
There are many trustworthy seed distributors that provide quality products. We will share links to these distributors in the near future.
How do I get soil?
-
Grow Guys provides their custom-blend soil with your Grow Space purchase. Grow Guys also sells our custom-blend soil that can be shipped to your home.
Can I use tap water to water my plants?
-
It depends. Grow Guys suggests testing the pH level of your tap water first, preferably with a pH testing kit. The acceptable pH level can range from 5.5 – 7.0. You can also use pH Up and pH Down products to help adjust your tap waters’ pH levels easily. We also suggest letting your tap water sit overnight before watering your plants to acclimate to room temperature and it also helps to remove excess minerals from the water. If you’re not sure, you can use distilled water – just be sure the pH levels are in range. You can always Google the brand’s pH before buying.
How often do I water my plants?
-
This depends on many factors as well – age, temperature, humidity, plant appearance, etc. Here is a rough schedule: When the seed is placed into the soil, Grow Guys recommends using a spray bottle to keep the soil damp for the first week/week and a half. Spray every few hours or once the top layer of soils appears dry. Then, begin watering every 3-4 days with very low pressure (do not pour a lot of water at once) for another 1-2 weeks. Next, begin watering every 2-3 days. A watering trick is to test the weight of the pot. Test the weight when dry and when watered to get a gauge of its weight during each. When it feels light/dry, you can water.
When do I use nutrients in my watering? How much do I use? How do I mix it in?
-
The Grow Guys custom-blend soil generally does not need added nutrients until week 3, or around day 21 or so. Follow the chart below for recommended nutrient usage. Mix the nutrients in this order with proper stirring in between each: 1. CaliMagic 2. Flora Micro 3. Flora Gro 4. Flora Bloom
Do I need to move my plants around at all?
-
No, you do not need to move them around once in the tent. You can move them in order to dispose of the runoff water (water that drains through the fabric pot and into the drainage pan), but it is not needed in terms of the light intake.
Will growing cannabis make my house smell?
-
Grow Guys installs ventilation equipment that eliminates the smell while the Grow Space is kept enclosed. It is possible for the odor to be released when the Grow Space is opened.
What should the temperature in my Grow Space be? What should the humidity in my Grow Space be?
-
Seedling Stage: 65-80 degrees / 60%-70%
-
Vegetative Stage: 70-85 degrees / 50%-65%
-
Flowering Stage: 65-80 degrees / 40%-50% (Higher than 60% may result in mold)
Do not be discouraged if the temperature and humidity levels are not always exact. Cannabis is very resilient.
What do I do if my plants are showing signs of issues?
-
First, don’t panic. Grow Guys provides a Grow Help service. Schedule some time with us and we will guide you through your issue – either in person or virtually. Call for Grow Help.
Is there are any difference between growing indica and sativa strains?
-
In terms of growing, the major difference is indica strains are typically shorter and bushier while sativa strains are taller. Indica strains are generally recognized as “easier” to grow; however, Grow Guys can help you grow both to perfection.
How do I regulate my temperature?
-
You can cool the Grow Space by including extra fans, increasing the exhaust fan’s speed, or placing an air conditioner in the surrounding room. You can warm the Grow Space by lowering the exhaust fan’s speed, placing a space heater in the surrounding room, or even by putting a rug underneath your Grow Space.
How do I regulate my humidity?
-
You can increase your humidity by including a humidifier in a Grow Space or by lowering the exhaust fan’s speed. You can decrease your humidity by including a dehumidifier in a Grow Space or by increasing the exhaust fan’s speed.
What level should my light be set to? How long do my lights stay on?
-
Once your seeds sprout from the soil, set the light level to around 20-25%. Increase the level 5% every 3-4 days until you reach 90%. Leave it at 90% for the remainder of the grow cycle. Try to keep the light around 15-20 inches away from the top of the plant(s). Grow Guys suggests using an 18-hour on and 6-hour off schedule for autoflowers. For photoperiods, run 18-hours on and 6-hours off until you want them to flower. When you want to transition to flowering, run the lights for 12 hours and then shut them off for 12 hours until completion.
How long does it take the technician to install a Grow Space?
-
The installation can range from a half hour to 2 hours.
How do I know my plant is finished and ready to harvest?
-
You can typically gauge the harvest time from the description in the seed profile when purchasing; however, we suggest adding a week or two to those estimates. For a more exact determination, you harvest when 20-25% of your trichomes (the crystal-like structures forming on the leaves) turn an amber color. They will turn from clear to milky white, and then amber. You typically use a magnifying glass or jeweler’s loupe to view this accurately.
How do I harvest?
-
We suggest using 24-inch shears to cut the very bottom of the base of the plant. Practice caution when using the shears. You can then hang the plant upside down by securing zip ties, string, twine, etc. around some ideal branches in order to fasten to the top of your Grow Space. You can remove your light(s) or hang the plants around it. Keep the drying plants in the dark with a relative humidity of about 40%-50% and the temperature between 65-75 degrees F. You can determine when it is time to trim and cure when the branches begin to “snap” instead of “bend”. Do not be discouraged if the temperature and humidity levels are not always exact. Cannabis is very resilient. Grow Guys also offers in-home visitation services to help you harvest. Call us to schedule a visit.
How do I trim?
-
Prepare a clean space to work with when trimming your cannabis. Use a quality set of pruning shears to cut each branch separately. Prune the fan leaves (large leaves) – you can save these and use them to make edibles! Now prune the buds from the base of each stem. This can take some time depending on the size of your plant(s). Once you have completed trimming all of your buds you are ready to cure them.
What is curing and how do I do it?
-
Curing is a process to remove excess moisture in the harvested cannabis before use. This helps prevent mold while also allowing for a “smoother” smoke and a longer shelf-life of potency and taste. Grow Guys suggests curing in a large seal-tight glass jar and using a humidity pack to regulate the proper relative humidity (~60%). Fill the jar to about ¾ capacity. You can insert a small hydrometer to gauge the temperature and humidity within the jar(s). Place the jars in a dark space with an acceptable temperature range of 60-75 degrees. After 3-5 days, begin opening the jar, or “burping”, for 20-30 mins a day. Grow Guys encourages you to begin use after two weeks; however, continued curing may help improve its quality further. Do not be discouraged if the temperature and humidity levels are not always exact. Cannabis is very resilient.
